1. Design of the Coal and Biomass Fired Hot Air Generator:

The coal and biomass fired hot air generator system consists of the following components:

1.1. Furnace: includes the grate, refractory combustion lining and combustion air fans, operating fully automatically according to the hot air outlet temperature.

1.2. Heater body: made of stainless steel, steel tubes and high-temperature-resistant plates. The heater body is designed to make maximum use of the heat from the fuel for the highest efficiency.

1.3. Process air fan and air ducts: supply air into the heater body to be heated, then deliver it to the hot air consuming equipment.

1.4. Induced draft fan and stack: draw the flue gas from the furnace and discharge it to the atmosphere. The induced draft fan creates negative pressure in the heater body, preventing flue gas from leaking into the hot air.

1.5. Control system: equipped with highly sensitive temperature sensors that directly control the combustion air fan and the induced draft fan to change or maintain the hot air outlet temperature at the set point.

2. Operating Principle of the Hot Air Generator:

Clean, low-temperature air is blown into the hot air generator by the fan. Here, the air absorbs heat from the flue gas in the furnace through the heat exchange walls (indirect heat exchange). The air is heated to the required temperature and blown to the heat consuming equipment through the ducts.

Fuels used in this type of hot air generator include:

+ Coal fines, lump anthracite coal, Indonesian coal fines

+ Firewood, rice husk briquettes, wood pellets, rice husk pellets.

+ Sawdust, wood shavings, wood chips, rice husk, coffee husk, cashew nut shells, macadamia nut shells, etc.

3. Advantages of the Hot Air Generator:

3.1. Much lower equipment cost than using a steam boiler or thermal oil heater to supply heat.

3.2. Simple operation and the lowest maintenance costs.

3.3. Supplies hot air at very high temperatures, up to 300 °C or higher.

3.4. High level of safety, as it is not a pressure vessel.

3.5. Coal and wood fired hot air generators have the lowest investment cost of all fuel-fired methods of producing hot air.

3.6. Coal and wood fired hot air generators are simple and compact, resulting in few breakdowns.
