A silencer is a highly effective device for controlling the propagation of aerodynamic noise without obstructing the gas flow. Once installed, the silencer reduces noise by up to 90% compared to an unsilenced vent, and the noise level of the gas stream downstream of the silencer can be brought below 20–40 dB.

Design Features of the Silencer
The silencer is made of SUS304 stainless steel, which is corrosion-resistant and withstands high temperature, high pressure, steam and oil.
Operating Principle of the Silencer
The high-velocity steam or gas jet first passes through a small-hole perforated diffuser, which breaks it into many small jets, lowering the flow velocity and shifting the noise energy toward high frequencies that are easily attenuated. The internal sound-absorbing infill then converts the remaining sound energy into heat, so the gas leaves the silencer at a low noise level.
Selection Considerations for Silencers
When selecting and installing a silencer, the acoustic characteristics, pressure, and flow rate of the air, gas or exhaust steam must be taken into account to achieve the best aerodynamic and acoustic performance. In other words, the pressure drop across the silencer must stay within the allowable limit, and the silencer must meet the applicable permissible noise standards.
